Fadduol, Cluff & Hardy : Ashley P. Withers
Ashley P. Withers
Stephen F. Austin State University, Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science, summa cum laude, August 2008
SMU Dedman School of Law, Juris Doctor, cum laude, May 2011
Ashley was born in Dallas, Texas, and was raised in the small town of Prosper, Texas. She grew up as the oldest of three girls, and is very close to her sisters today. In 2005, Ashley graduated from Prosper High School, graduating in the top 5% of her class. Even in high school, Ashley knew that she wanted to become a lawyer, and dedicated herself to pursuing that goal. After high school, Ashley went to Stephen F. Austin State University, where she was President of the Pre-Law Club, and competed in and coached Texas Undergraduate Moot Court. She received second place in the Texas Wesleyan School of Law Undergraduate Moot Court competition, and was recognized as one of the top ten advocates in the state in 2008. Ashley graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2008, graduating from its School of Honors as well.
That fall, Ashley entered law school at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. While in law school, Ashley was a comment editor for the SMU Law Review, and was also heavily involved in advocacy competitions. Ashley won the award for National Champion, Best Final Round Advocate, and Second Place Petitioner Brief in the 2009 National Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition. During her last year of law school, Ashley worked as a law clerk for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where she assisted attorneys in bringing enforcement proceedings against banks, their affiliates, and responsible employees, for not complying with FDIC regulations, including prohibitions on loans to bank insiders; improper use of the FDIC logo; embezzlement of bank funds, and discrimination in lending practices. While Ashley knew she had always wanted to be a lawyer largely because was fascinated with the analysis of law, it was at the FDIC that she realized that being a lawyer could mean so much more – it was an opportunity to protect the rights of others, especially when their rights are being trampled on by big businesses with infinite resources.
Ashley’s clerkship with the FDIC ended when she graduated from law school in May 2011. Upon her graduation, Ashley married her now-husband, and moved to Lubbock, where they both live and work. Since moving to Lubbock, Ashley has made it a point to become involved in the Lubbock community. Ashley volunteers often as a judge in Texas Tech University School of Law advocacy competitions, and coaches the Texas Administrative Law Moot Court team from the Texas Tech University School of Law.
Ashley has been working with Fadduol, Cluff, & Hardy, P.C. since September 2011. She has greatly enjoyed having the opportunity every day to live her dream of being a lawyer and helping others through her job.
Ashley is licensed to practice law in Texas.
